Smiths Concrete in the Environment
"The Company is fully committed to planned restoration, either returning the land back to the farmer or providing lakes for various water activities."
Many of the company's sites attract a wide variety of wildlife. One particularly pleasant feature is the annual breeding of sand martins who occupy some of our stock piles and are fully protected and undisturbed during March to July.
In order to encourage the return of wildlife as the land is restored, diverse varieties of wet land are created. Crested newts, which are a rare species in Warwickshire, and were recently found at Bubbenhall, have been relocated to purpose-built ponds under the supervision of English Nature.
Additionally, Bubbenhall Wood, which had been neglected for many years, is now being positively managed and dormice have been reintroduced and are being carefully monitored.
